I look forward to the gifts, the gift-giving, and the getting together with family and friends.
On a game show some years ago, a contestant was returning for more cash and prizes. All he had to do was correctly answer one last question.
“To be today’s champion,” the smiling host said, “name 2 of Santa’s reindeer.”
The contestant sighed relief at knowing the answer. “Rudolph!” he announced, and “Olive.”
“You know...
‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glowed
OLIVE, the other reindeer!’”
You know, it is amazing how confused people have become about the facts of Christmas. This poor guy couldn’t even get his facts straight about Santa’s reindeer. Is it any wonder with all the commercializing of Christmas that people are so confused about what Christmas really is?
Christmas day is a day we set aside to remember what occurred more than 2,000 years ago. Luke 2:11 tells us,
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
