A king’s son named Jonathan and his armor-bearer decided they were going to go up and take on the enemy. Perhaps God would help them to defeat the enemy. Of course, God did meet them, and He gave them the ability to defeat and kill more than 20. As a result of their courage, the Bible tells us a panic took place in the camp of the Philistines, and they began striking each other and ran in fear! All because two young guys decided to trust God!
For Jonathan and his armor-bearer, the obstacles they faced were great! Not only was the enemy’s army big, but they also had a mountain that they had to climb. The mountain was so steep they had to use both their feet and hands which meant they were vulnerable.
Like Jonathan, if we are going to make a difference, we must first determine to do something others think impossible. Perhaps God, as He did with Jonathan, will be with you to do something totally unexpected. For Jonathan and his armor-bearer, their victory changed the attitudes of their country. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 14:22,
“When all the Israelites who had hidden in the hill country of Ephraim heard that the Philistines were on the run, they joined the battle in hot pursuit.”
