Love God, hate sin. How much more basic could our Christian walk be than these four words?

The Bible tells us we are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death!

There is a price we pay for our sin and despite the fun it may appear to be, it is not a wise investment.

When my youngest daughter was 2-years-old, we took her to a lake for a day of swimming. She soon became attracted to the bright colorful lily pads just beyond the boundary ropes from the swimming area.

As Brittany began to step over the ropes, I warned her to get back, but she ignored me and began to grab hold of those shiny flowers.

As she continued to ignore my call, she began sinking and it wasn’t long until she was stuck in the mud and unable to move. Frightened by being trapped she began to cry. I went over, took her by the hands, and as I lifted her out I noticed it took a great deal of strength to pull her free. That’s how sin can be!

Satan likes to put things before us that are just beyond the boundaries of how God wants us to live and when we fall for it. We find ourselves stuck and in need of someone bigger than ourselves to set us free. That person is Jesus Christ.

Sin has its price, but an aggressive love and pursuit for God will prevent you from paying a heavy price!
