In the story of the Wizard of Oz, the lion is on a journey to find courage; the tin man wants a heart; and the straw man is determined to get a brain.

They are told that if they can reach Oz, there they will get what they want. But something happened on their journey.

Each of them received what they were looking for by what they went through.

Each of us are on a journey in this life as well, and what we become or receive in this life is not going to occur by some magical formula.

On this journey to heaven that we find ourselves on, there are some things that God has promised us. Yes, heaven does await those who make Jesus their Savior & Lord, but during the journey itself there are some great things.

2 Timothy 1:7 says:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (NKJV)

Where the lion wanted courage, we can have power.

Where the tin man desired a heart, we can have love.

Where the straw man wanted a brain, we can have a sound mind.

Our journey is not a yellow brick road that leads to some mythical person, but ours is a journey filled with power, love and discipline to become more like Jesus Christ.

So, walk that path of righteousness that leads to Christ.
