As incredible as that miracle was, it was only the beginning of some great victories David eventually experienced in his life. If we had the time and space, we could write about the many accounts that define David’s many victories: the countries captured, and the hundreds and thousands of enemies destroyed.
2 Samuel 8:13 says that David became famous after he returned from striking down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. Yet, in all David’s victories over the enemies of his people, he continued to acknowledge that it was by God’s strength. Without God, nothing would ever have been accomplished.
In your walk as a Christian, there will be those enemies that will try to defeat you and bring doubt to your commitment to Christ.
This is what David had to say regarding God in 2 Samuel 22:47-50,
“The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be my God, the Rock, my Savior!
He is the God who avenges me,
who puts the nations under me,
who sets me free from my enemies.
You exalted me above my foes;
from a violent man you rescued me.
Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing the praises of your name.”
